REGINA, SK. – Police in Saskatchewan say they are investigating a new trend in thefts — people stealing diesel filters off of school buses.
In September, the Regina Public School Board reported that 18 buses were vandalized.
Later, diesel filters were stolen off of school buses near Saskatoon.
The filters, which remove soot from the engine, contain platinum and rhodium — precious metals that can be recovered.
