Teacher suspended, barred from school after charges laid
LETHBRIDGE – The Peigan Board of Education said it has suspended a teacher who was arrested on child pornography charges.
Mark Anderson faces charges of possessing, accessing, and distributing child pornography, following an investigation that began in 2017. Anderson is a teacher at the elementary school in Brocket.
“Effective immediately, Peigan Board of Education has suspended the employee and the employee will not be allowed to return to the school, will not be in contact with students, and will not be allowed on PBOE property,” the board said in a statement from superintendent Lisa Crowshoe.
The statement goes on to say the safety and well-being of students is the highest priority for the board, and that a letter is being sent to parents and families of students, outlining the counselling and supports being made available.
