CHAT News Today celebrates one year anniversary

Feb 9, 2018 | 5:00 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — One year ago today, a new day for local news in Medicine Hat launched.

CHAT News Today, an online news hub powered by the CHAT Television newsroom, officially went live on February 9, 2017 during a gala event at the Beveridge Building.

The centrepiece of the site continues to be the news section, reporting local news and sports 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and updating stories when new developments occur. The nightly newscast, along with Week in Review, is also available to view on the site, in case you’re unable to watch it the night it airs.

The site still features in-depth stories that it can fit on television, as well as stories exclusive to the Internet. It also features opinions and columns, community news and events, flyers, classified ads, a dedicated section for automobile and real estate listings, and obituaries provided by local funeral homes.

And the website remains free to access, with no paywall or limit to the amount of stories that can be read each month.

In the year since the site launched, stories on CHAT News Today have recorded more than 5 million page views. We’re thankful to everyone who visited the website for the support.
