Taber Police take man into custody under Mental Health Act following alleged bomb threat

TABER,AB — The Taber Police Service took a man into custody under the Mental Health Act Tuesday afternoon after he claimed he was carrying a bomb.
According to a news release, at approximately 2:55 p.m., an officer with the Taber Police Service encountered a man acting strangely near 50th Avenue and 52nd Street in the town. When initial contact with the man, he told officers he had a bomb in a bag he was carrying.
Five Taber Police units responded and cordoned off the male. He was taken into custody without incident.
No bomb was found.
