Police believe they’ve found owner of stolen World War One medals

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Police Service are in the process of returning stolen World War One medals to the family of the man they were issued to.
Police came into possession of the medals during an investigation into stolen property from donation boxes at a local charity. Police arrested two people in connection with the thefts, and during a search related to the investigation, found the medals in a bag with old foreign coins.
The medals, which were from the First World War, were awarded to L.B. Middleton, who served in the British navy.
Medicine Hat police say they believe they’ve located the grandchildren of the man, and say the medals will likely be returned within the next few days.
