Second kitten found in dumpster this week

MEDICINE Hat, AB – A second kitten has been found in a dumpster this week.

A member of the public discovered the kitten near 15 Street Southwest, but this one had a long piece of plastic tubing down its throat.

The Alberta Pound and Rescue Centre (APARC) has renamed the kitten Bumble, and he’s since had the plastic tubing removed.

He’s having some trouble eating, and he’s a little bit dazed after the events of today, but he’s still expecting to make a full recovery.

APARC says they’re unsure if Bumble ate the tubing on his own, or his former owner was involved.

Earlier this week, on Monday, a little white kitten who is now known as Yeti was found in a dumpster on Cuyler Road Southeast.

He was covered in urine and was freezing cold, but since arriving at the shelter, he’s regained his appetite and energy back.

Although both kittens are expected to recover, APARC says leaving a kitten out in this weather is never a good option.

“There are so many alternatives rather than throwing them in the dumpster or even throwing them out in the cold, there are facilities that take cats that are set up to do so,” says Kaylyn Genio, general manager of APARC. “So there’s place you can go if you need help, and if you need some advice feel free to give us a call as well.”

Applications have been filed to adopt both yeti and bumble, and their still open for submissions.
